The 2004 Dawn Of The Dead is a remake of the 1978 original and follows a group of people trapped in a shopping mall surrounded by zombies, who find themselves battling for their lives. This so-called "remake" is actually an almost shot-for-shot replica of the original. It follows four people as they hole up in a shopping mall and take refuge from zombies, and it's only marginally different than the classic 40 year old movie. It doesn't really have a whole lot extra going for it. The acting isn't that great, the script is lacking, and the actors aren't given much to do. It's basically all there is, and I'm left wondering what could be done about it? Is this something that should be "remade"? I don't think so. But if they do make another one like it, I can definitely see where they'd go with it. The original movie is pretty much perfect as far as zombie movies go. In the United States, this version was released as a double feature with the 2004 Dawn Of The Dead red-band trailer edited into it. The Japanese release came with an extra short animated storyboard version of the film. The U.S. and Canadian DVD release has a "Night of The Living Dead" trailer, too.The Blu-ray was released in the United States on February 8, 2009.
